THE Delatite Cricket Club first XI soundly defeated St Joseph’s by six wickets in round 16 of the Cleary Shield competition at the Lords Oval last Saturday.

Delatite’s bowling attack led by Rumesh Ranasinghe restricted St Joseph’s to just 74 runs from 28 overs.

Ranasinghe captured 4/11, that now sees his season tally reach 21 wickets for a mere 161 runs at an average of 7.67 runs per wicket.

With three more home and away games to play, Ranasinghe could well exceed 35 wickets for the season.

Other wicket takers were Dan Walker (2/16 from six overs), speedster Matt Stevenson (1/16 from five overs), Tyler Smith (1/4 from three overs) and first gamer Oliver Pearson was impressive with 1/5 from four overs.
