Kerry helps tell inspiring stories

YOU might miss Kerry Herman as you pass her in the street, just another Mansfieldian going about her business.

However, behind the mask is one of Australia’s most respected documentary makers.

Kerry was born in Perth and grew up there, attending Santa Maria Ladies College.

“At school I just wanted to get a job in the rag trade, having done some work experience there,” she outlined.

“After school I worked in a boutique, as a fashion agent and eventually as a buyer for ‘Miss Ahern’.

“Next came a new career direction selling subscriptions to Newsweek magazine in eastern Australia and eventually in Hong Kong.”
