THE Mansfield Eagles took the trip to Tatura at the weekend, but despite endeavor, they fell to an 83-point defeat.

Mansfield arrived ready to atone for the narrow 17-point defeat in round 7.

The Eagles started well, but fate in the form of injury would hamper their day.

Ben Fagan has appeared in the best lists, nine out of his 14 games, having a fantastic year.

When the Eagles lose a player of that ability after five minutes, they not only lose quality, but also are short on the bench for most of the game.

However, once again according to senior coach Simon Dolling, the younger brigade stood up, with Jacob Howes, Jamie Carns, Lachie Christopher and Scott Markwick playing well above their years.
