Godsmark top man in O&K

HE was the favorite among the league’s coaches heading in, and halfway through Sunday night’s Baker Medal count Daniel Godsmark looked like he had the award sewn up as he stormed to a 10-vote lead.

While a second half surge from Milawa’s Brandon Ryan actually saw him take the lead at one stage, a strong finish saw Godsmark claim the medal by five votes.

It capped a virtual clean sweep for Godsmark, who also took out the league’s Most Valuable Player award, voted by the coaches, and was named in the Team of the Year, leaving him somewhat stunned.

“I’m stoked,” Godsmark said.

“I’m so proud of the achievement, and happy that I’m able to bring something like this back to Bonnie Doon Football Club.

“They’ve had a few lean years in the O&K since coming across from the Benalla league.
