Community bus is ready to roll

ON THE ROAD: Launching the new community bus on Saturday were (from left) Mansfield Shire mayor Ray Robinson and community services manager Louise Knol, Harry and Clare Friday Foundation’s Marie Sellstrom, Euan Friday and Christine Friday, and Martin’s Garage’s Dion Theodossi.

‘THE wheels of the bus go round and round – for many years to come’ – is the wish of Christine Friday, founder of the Harry and Clare Friday Foundation.

Ms Friday was encouraging groups to use Mansfield’s new community bus which was launched on Saturday afternoon.

Some 150 people attended the launch held at Martin’s Garage, and although it has been purchased for the main use of Mansfield District Hospital, Bindaree Retirement Home, Buckland Nursing Home, Beolite residents, Yooralla, Mansfield Autism Statewide Services (MASS) and the Ambulance Auxiliary – it is there for others to use as well.

Ms Friday said this had been a project with a large number of people involved, but she gave special thanks to Dion Theodossi and Marie Sellstrom for many hours of coordination and organisation.
“It (the bus) is a great asset for the community – please make sure it is used,” she said.

Commencing the launch was director of the Friday Foundation Euan Friday.
