Love of bowls led to coaching

THIS IS GOOD: Measuring the bowls during a coaching session are (from left) Terry Kilpatrick, Kerrie and Tom Nicol, Irene Fuller (coach) and Anne Wileman.

‘WHEN you love bowls so much you just want to share the experience,’ is the reason behind Mansfield Bowls Club member Irene Fuller’s passion for coaching.

Not only does Fuller play whenever she can, and that includes being a member of the ladies pennant team, she also coaches several times a week – particularly working with new players.

She gained her coaching accreditation in 2007 with Bowls Victoria and has taught many others to bowl over the years.

“I love bowls enough to want to try and help others get the enjoyment out of the game as much as I do,” Fuller said.

“I have loved every game I’ve played and the coaching side of it came in with the encourage given to me by Gordon Clement – he was the one who got me to do the coaching course.”

The youngest player Fuller has coached through to pennant stage is Zac Currie who started some four years ago at the age of just 13 and is now a member of the men’s pennant team.
