Kris loves all sports but horses are passion

BEST FRIENDS: Kris takes things a lot easier these days, spending a lot of time with her best mate Kia.

KRIS Humphrey is one of those local identities who is known to people from all different walks of life.

Businesswoman, charity worker, horsewoman, tennis, golf and bowls player, foster mother, mother and grandmother, Kris’ life and interests have spanned all areas.

Kris was born in Melbourne 59 years ago and grew up in North Balwyn.

She attended Genazzano Ladies’ College in Kew, and it was early in her school days that her life was first disrupted by a sporting accident.

The family were frequent visitors to Lake Eildon, where they pursued their passion for water skiing.

On one of these visits, when Kris was nine years old, she sustained a head injury which left her an epileptic for the next 20 years of her life.

“School became very difficult after the accident,” she recounted.

“The nuns told the other children to stay away from me because I had the devil in me.
