Locals star in Outback Spectacular

MOVIE STAR: Jed Cullican was one of a dozen local riders who helped film a new movie for the Outback Spectacular stage show. He is pictured here chasing brumbies on Mt Number Three.

IT may not have been The Man from Snowy River, but it was pretty close.

There were wild stallions, brumby mobs, local cattlemen and views that stretched across the High Country.

So was the case when the RM Williams Outback Spectacular show wrapped up their final shoot in Mansfield last week after months of filming.

Travelling sporadically down from their base in Queensland, the production was overseen by Simon Wincer, the executive producer on The Man from Snowy River more than 30 years ago.

Filming over several months, the new theme – High Country Myths and Legends – will be unveiled at the RM Williams Outback Spectacular show in early December.

“This new show is about our cast of riders being in the High Country,” marketing manager Selena Lawson said.
