DELATITE Cricket Club first XI continued on its winning way last Saturday when it ventured to Benalla Racecourse Reserve to take the points against Warrenbayne in round three of Cleary Shield cricket.

Warrenbayne won the toss and elected to bat in the hope of setting a total to test the Delatite batsmen.

Delatite gleefully accepted the challenge and proceeded to demolish last season’s grand finalists for a paltry 71 in the allocated 40 overs.

Bowling honors went to Nathan Purcell who relished the conditions and finished with an excellent 5/12 from eight overs.

Matt Stevenson proved to be relatively unplayable on the slowish wicket and finished with 2/2 from six overs.

Patrick Marks also bowled with pace and accuracy and completed his eight overs with a fine 2/18 (apologies to young Patrick from last week’s article as the writer must have had a senior moment when he named him as “Peter”, which we all know is his brother’s name – c’est la vie).
