OLYMPIAN and former Mansfield resident, Victoria Mitchell, beat 25,000 competitors to win the recent San Francisco Women’s Half Marathon in a time of one hour 19 minutes and 50 seconds.
She was some five minutes ahead of the next competitor.
Mitchell is the current Australian 3000m steeplechase champion and conquered the hills of San Francisco thanks to a new training regime.
“Winning a half marathon is an awesome feeling,” she said.
“Competing against so many runners from around the world and taking it out by such a huge margin is something I’m hugely proud of.
“I have been focusing more on my core strength and endurance in training and it is really paying off for me.”
