Delatite annihilates

WELL, what a turn-up from last week’s report in Courier Sport for Delatite Cricket Club.

The prediction that if Violet Town’s Simon Holmes put together a modicum of a decent score, then the final result following day two of this match would be a close one.

Holmes did, however, improve somewhat on his previous three outings (0, 0 and 8) but not enough as the Delatite bowlers proceeded to decimate what was left of the Violet Town line-up.

Only Holmes (39) and Nathan Abley (20) showed some determination as their side was dismissed for 122 in the first innings, 145 runs behind Delatite’s score of 5/267 from the previous week.

Stand-in captain Matt Stevenson bowled with a velocity that had the Towners batsmen ducking and weaving his fierce thunderbolts.

He finished with 4/22 while Rumesh Ranasinghe took 2/22.

Nathan Purcell and James Cousins were rewarded with one wicket each for their fine efforts.
