Winning the toss, Merton batted, losing openers Sanford and Kipping in the first five overs.

Enter Mat Storer who played a steady innings of cleaner cricket to top score with 113, including 10 boundaries and a six.

His innings set the platform for Aaron Place and captain Chris Anderson to punish the St Joseph’s bowlers in the later overs with 31 apiece.

Anderson was particularly aggressive, belting two boundaries and three huge sixes.

Top wicket taker for the visitors was Lister with four scalps in Merton’s total of 250 all out in the final over.
