Adrian Cheer has no-brainer decision

MOVING ON: St Mary’s principal Adrian Cheer surveys St Mary’s and the years ahead.

CHANGE is a constant of life.

St Mary’s Primary School is about to have a fairly large change with the departure of their principal of the past 14 years, Adrian Cheer.

“I came here in the year 2000,” Mr Cheer said.

“My family had a house at Jamieson for upwards of 40 years and we would come here on holidays.

“I would always say I wouldn’t mind working up this way and when the job came up, I applied and got it.”

Mr Cheer was the first lay principal of St Mary’s, taking over from Sister Pat from the Sisters of Mercy.

“For quite a period of time I was Sister Adrian,” he said with a smile.
