Delatite Hotel packed with 300 people for carols

HAPPY CHILDREN: The Nicholls family children (from left) Darcy, Zellie and Indiana, were delighted to meet Santa at Mansfield’s Carols by Candlelight. Because of inclement weather conditions the carols were moved to the Delatite Hotel, which was packed with more than 300 people.

A LAST minute decision to move the annual Mansfield Carols by Candlelight community event into the Delatite Hotel proved to be a success.

Inclement weather threatened the outdoor event which was to be held in the median strip in High Street surrounding the Christmas tree.

However, a last minute decision by organisers to move it appeared to be the right one as people moved furniture, set up stages, sound equipment and even the Third Hand group moved their barbecue to the beer garden.

Some 300 people attended the event with patrons spilling out on to the footpath and children’s play area.
