MANSFIELD Shire Council’s financial sustainability has again been questioned, by resigning independent member of its finance committee Mark Holcome.
Mr Holcombe resigned last week, leaving only one independent member on the committee.
In an open letter to councillors Mr Holcombe – who was among the original proponents of this project review committee – said he believed a number of actions taken by council were not in the best interests of ratepayers.
Commenting on the open letter, Mayor Marg Attley said council was extremely appreciative of the time given and the commitment to the advisory committees of council.
“Mr Holcombe has been a dedicated community member of the Finance Advisory Committee (FAC) and on behalf of council I have thanked him for that,” she said.
Following delivery of his letter, the Mansfield Courier questioned Mr Holcombe to clarify the basis of his resignation.
