THE annual Junior Country Week Cricket carnival was held last week with Mansfield players in three of the grades.

The under 13 Wangaratta Gold team in the Graham Kerr Shield team had Sam Thomson, Nick Scales and Max Scott as Mansfield representatives.

The Geoff Welsh Shield under 14 Wangaratta team had Joel Sandford, Will Christopher and Max Sampson.

Patrick Marks, James Cousins and Fergus Patterson represented Benalla in the under 17 Keith Sherwill Shield.

Both the under 14s and the under 17s made the finals.

The under 14s thought they had missed the finals with only one win out of three games.

However, when the officials did some number crunching it turned out that the team did well enough to play off in the final on Friday at Tallangatta.

Parents and players left home at 6am and received a call at around 7.15 that the game was cancelled due to rain.
