THE 2015 Australia Day ceremony drew a near record crowd to the median strip in High Street.

The day began with complimentary champagne and barbecue all taken to the strains of Mansfield’s own troubadour, Denis Tucker.

The mayor of Mansfield Marg Attley welcomed all in attendance and introduced the Australia Day ambassador, Dr Susan Alberti.

“I am one of some 130 ambassadors who take part in the various Australia Day activities,” she said.

“It is a great day to take time to remember what makes this the greatest country on earth.

“We come from diverse cultures and backgrounds and share freedom and liveability.”
