CARLTON AFL players were anything but blue when they took a five day pre-season training break on Mt Buller and at Mansfield last week.
Starting their ‘bonding and training’ sessions on Mt Buller the first of their gruelling fitness tasks was a bike ride up to the top – a task which new recruit Liam Jones said was tough but once they were into their rhythm it got easier.
Apart from the ride to the top, players, coaches and trainers took a hike to the ‘very top’, the summit, as part of their training regime.
On Thursday it was down to the bottom and Mansfield Recreation Reserve was the ground for further training.
Coach Mick Malthouse was on the ground to oversee various skills tasks before organising a quick skills game of short takes.
Some players took time out to build their biceps with boxing exercises while others ran the outside of the oval strengthening legs.
