Lots of preps in district

WHEN you’re five, there are three big things that you look forward to.

The Easter Bunny, Santa and the start of school.

So it was last week when almost 100 little people clung, terrified and sometimes crying, to mums and dads as they faced the beginning of their education.

Or, in other cases, they waved goodbye without a backward glance – leaving mums and dads crying in their wake.

Either way, the start of school is the start of something big – the beginning of a long road of learning.

“It’s been a very smooth start for our new preps,” Paul Volkering, principal at Mansfield Primary School, said.

“The new preps started today without any fuss, following a successful transition program in 2014.

“Our three prep teachers this year have been really impressed by the readiness of our new preps for school, which speaks volumes for the fantastic work of the pre-school teachers.
