LOCAL shooter Catherine Skinner has taken another prestigous award, after the Mansfield Sportsperson of the Year.
She has been awarded the best female shooter award for 2014 by Shooting Australia.
Shooting Australia celebrated the sport’s best on Saturday night, at its Awards of Excellence in Sydney, with more than 150 guests, including dignitaries in attendance.
The premier awards were won by deserving athletes Catherine Skinner (female), Warren Potent (male) and Jason Maroney (para-shooter).
For the second year in a row, Skinner was recognised for her remarkable hold over the Women’s Trap shooting discipline, having won a World Championship bronze, World Cup Final bronze and a further World Cup bronze.
Representing the Australian Olympic Committee, and Chef de Mission for the Rio Olympic Games, Kitty Chiller presented Skinner with the award and wished the shooting team well at Rio, while reminding athletes that there were only 75 Saturdays until Rio.
