One way please for safety measures

BUSY TIMES: Traffic flow becomes congested in Ailsa Street during peak kindergarten, children’s centre and doctor surgery times - hence Mansfield Shire Council is proposing a one way traffic flow. PHOTO: Peter Hunt

A PROPOSAL to change traffic flow at the eastern end of Ailsa Street to a one way thoroughfare is now out for public comment.

Ailsa Street has long been a busy hub in Mansfield with a mix of businesses and residences at that end.

The busy medical centre, kindergarten and now the new laneway to the Family and Children’s Centre on Davies Street, have all contributed to increased vehicle movements and parking needs along Ailsa Street.

When two cars are parked parallel to one another only one vehicle is able to pass and pedestrians are difficult to see.

To improve traffic flow and safety, Mansfield Shire Council is proposing to implement a ‘one way’ system between Erril Street and Highett Street only at this time.

Traffic on Ailsa Street between Erril Street and Collopy and then Chenery streets would remain two way.
