Dusty road to nowhere?

DUSTY CLOUDS: Cars using Reardon Lane as a short cut to Mt Battery Road are creating dust problems for those living in this back lane which was once a ‘no through road’.

MANSFIELD Shire Council can be commended for its push to conduct the sealing of several roads around the shire, but there is one road that appears to have been forgotten.

Residents of Reardon Lane, off Mt Buller Road, have been complaining to council about the increase in traffic and dust over the past 12 months.

One resident, Ray Fraser, said he has contacted council on four occasions complaining about the traffic and dust with no satisfactory responses.

“Reardon Lane used to be a ‘no through road’ when I built here,” Mr Fraser said.

“But several years ago council decided to open it up for through traffic which has become intolerable.”

Mr Fraser said the increase in traffic flow has also occurred since road works on Mt Battery Road and now with the announcement of the corner of Mt Battery-Whitfield Road.
