JUNIOR basketball commenced their finals last week, with boys and girls playing to make the grand final, stay in contention and avoid elimination in week one.

The under 12/14 girls saw a low scoring first match, with Opals 10 just edging out Diamonds 7, while Blaze 19 defeated Flames 12 to advance to the grand final.

This week Opals will take on Flames to decide on the other grand final spot.

The under 16/18 girls produced some bigger scores in their matches, with Pearls out-shining the Vipers 38-16 to advance to the preliminary final, while Sapphires marched into the grand final with a dominant 50-26 win over the Wildcats who must now regroup this week.

Over on the boys side, under 12 saw Magic defeat Cougars 24-19 to earn the right to play Panthers, who lost to Mavericks 12-19, putting Mavericks straight into the grand final.

Under 14 boys put some big scores on the board, with Sharks 36 biting the Cannons 19, and Thunder 41, storming into the grand final with a big win over Heat 29.
