MANSFIELD builder Travis Maxfield has won the Master Builders Association North East Apprentice of the Year award for 2014.
Taking out the honors at an awards ceremony in Benalla last week, Travis will now face a panel of judges in Melbourne as he contends for the state title.
It is the third consecutive year the young builder has been recognised for the North East region, and the award is a fitting way to end his apprenticeship.
“It feels like all my hard work over the last four years has really paid off,” Travis told the Mansfield Courier.
“It’s been a journey to get here and I’ve learnt a lot along the way.”
Apprenticed to fellow Mansfield builder Darren Wheeler, Travis also works in conjunction with, and is mentored by, builder Alan Rice, who attended the awards ceremony with the Maxfield family.
