Moving forward in the quest for new shire CEO

A LETTER to the editor in the Mansfield Courier (April 1, 2015) again publicly raised the matter of the process in appointing a new ceo.

A LETTER to the editor in the Mansfield Courier (April 1, 2015) has again publicly raised the matter of the process being followed by Mansfield Shire Council in appointing a new chief executive officer.

The letter, by Mick Ellis and Maz Dowling, reiterated the need for a professional approach to be used in attracting the best possible person to the position.

It cited the appearance of an advertisement for applicants for the position, placed on page 30 of the previous Saturday’s edition of The Age, unremarkable in its presentation, tiny font and lacking all semblance of professionalism.

Shire mayor, Marg Attley, told the Courier she was not happy with the advertisement, and a new, larger advert will be tried.

Apart from this advertisement, there has been a whole page advert in the Local Government Directory, and it has been displayed on the number one Australian job site SEEK for a whole week.

“There has already been some response to this,” Cr Attley said.
