WORKS commenced on Monday on the construction of the highly anticipated roundabout at the High Street and Chenery Street intersection in Mansfield.

Construction works will be carried out by local company, Alpine Civil.

The project, largely funded by VicRoads, is expected to be completed in mid-May – weather permitting – and will improve safety and create traffic flow efficiencies.

“The development of new housing estates along the Mansfield-Whitfield Road and high visitation numbers to the area has increased traffic flow through this busy intersection,” said Mansfield Shire Council chief executive officer, David Roff.

“The roundabout will streamline traffic and ensure safer conditions for road users.

“The construction of the roundabout will result in a safer and clearer intersection in time for the winter traffic travelling through Mansfield to Mt Buller.
