Big push for more education funding

SHADOW Minister for Education, Nick Wakelin, last week promised to keep pressure on the State Government for maintaining, and where needed replacing, dilapidated school buildings.

Mr Wakelin toured the North East, in particular the top end of the Eildon electorate, visiting a variety of education facilities and schools over two days.

In Mansfield he visited the Mansfield Primary School, the Mansfield Secondary College and the Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School.

He was accompanied by Cindy McLeish (MLA, Eildon).

“This tour of the schools is a great opportunity to meet with school principals and talk about the challenges faced by each,” Mr Wakelin said.

“The secondary college I understand is in need of new infrastructure and prior to the last election the Liberal government made the promise of further funding.
