THE under16 Mansfield Eagles faced their toughest challenge against the Benalla Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Coach Dion Sheehan addressed his team before the game telling the boys the importance of doing the team things given the wet and slippery conditions after the recent rain.

The Giants came to play and were tough at the contest.

The Eagles settled by winning the contested footy and applying plenty of physical pressure to the Giants players.

The back line was solid in defence all day bringing the ball to the ground for the Eagles on ballers, who worked the ball forward to the running players in the Speiring brothers Mason and Louis.

Tommy Sheahan led the defence with strong tackling and pressure on the opposition who turned the footy over.

Billy Files was strong at centre half forward and kept his opponent goalless for the game.
