New venue for youth hub and skatepark being assessed

MANSFIELD Shire Council voted to look at a last minute option for the proposed youth hub and skatepark at last week’s April meeting.

MANSFIELD Shire Council voted to look at a last minute option for the proposed youth hub and skatepark at last week’s April meeting.

A recommendation to council by manager for community services Louise Knol was vetoed at the last minute as Ms Knol announced a late option had come to light.

Ms Knol then put to council a changed recommendation accepting a working group assess the new site and come back to council with its findings.

“This process has commenced with the calling of a working group meeting (held last Friday) and the assessment process will use the criteria as per the previous site assessment process,” Ms Knoll told councillors.

If this new site is found not to be suitable then council will be asked to endorse a recommendation that the Mansfield Recreation Reserve still be the preferred site.

Ms Knoll said the recreation reserve will utilise version 17 for the youth hub/skatepark if the site assessment goes ahead.
