‘OUR People’ will often profile those who have been part of the High Country for decades.
This week we have someone who has been in Mansfield less than two months, the new chief executive officer of the Mansfield and District Hospital, Marianne Warren.
Marianne was born in Albury and grew up in the idyllic country town of Holbrook.
“I went to school at Holbrook and then Albury,” she said.
“Throughout my schooldays I had always had the desire to be a nurse.
“When I left school, the choices for women were either teaching or nursing, so I was quite happy to study nursing.
“The location for nursing also aided the decision – for teaching you had to go to Wagga Wagga, but nursing training was in Albury.”
These were the days when nurse training was completed in hospitals.
