AN OVERALL rate increase of 3.3 per cent, maintenance of service levels and an improved financial position are the key features of Mansfield Shire Council’s 2015/16 draft budget.
Overall revenue from rates and charges (including waste) on existing properties will increase by 3.3 per cent for the coming year (with rate revenue up 3.9 per cent and waste charges 1.2 per cent).
The farm rate differential has been retained at 29 per cent.
Council expects its draft budget to maintain Mansfield’s position as having the lowest rate level in North East Victoria.
The total council budget for the 2015-16 year is $20.751 million, an increase of $805,000 from the previous year.
This is the equivalent of the new borrowings taken up in March this year of $800,000.
