Mixed basketball tips off for winter season

THE much anticipated Mixed Basketball Competition started last Wednesday night with everyone eager to play.

THE much anticipated Mixed Basketball Competition started last Wednesday night with everyone eager to play.

There were new teams, new rules and some avant-garde moves.

Game one had the youthful ‘Nothing but Nets’ against the reformed ‘Boomtowns’.

Although Boomtowns were missing Mark ‘The Sheriff’ Buscombe, as he was attending to other business, Eliza Pollock stepped up to the plate, sinking six baskets in the first half.

The second half was a bit slower for both teams with the break between seasons taking its toll on the players’ fitness.

Doug Crawford fought hard against the Boomtowners but he was no match for the fox like sneakiness of Sam ‘Mule’ Corden.
