RATEPAYERS can expect a modern take on rubbish collection when the Mansfield Shire Council rolls out its new service this July.
Along with new bins there will be modern trucks, streamlined recycling and a 70,000 litre reduction in landfill each week.
“There will be no real impact on residents during the changeover period,” said council’s waste management officer Rebecca Kirley.
“There will be a mobilisation period but everything will be finalised by the end of July.”
The new service comes after the Mansfield Shire teamed up with neighbours Murrindindi, Strathbogie, Benalla and Mitchell to investigate and cost a joint rubbish collection tender.
With the tenders now finalised, Mansfield has re-appointed Cleanaway for rubbish collection, VATMI for recyclables processing and Benalla Rural City for landfill acceptance.
