House and hayshed destroyed by fires

TWO recent structure fires in the Mansfield area have served as a timely reminder for people to remain vigilant and fire conscious, despite the wetter, cooler weather.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, May 17, a holiday house in Edith Court, Bonnie Doon was completely destroyed by fire.

The house was occupied at the time, and all those inside safely evacuated, and when local CFA brigades from Mansfield, Bonnie Doon, and Maindample arrived, the structure had virtually burnt to the ground.

The fire was believed to have started in the chimney.
