Mansfield under 14 players perform well at Interleague

LEADING OUT: Mansfield Under 14 interleague representative Joel Sandford leads the team out followed by Blake Azzorpardi and Zac Tanner, with Luke Murray further back.

ON Sunday, May 24, the AFL hosted it’s 2015 North East Border Junior Carnival in Wangaratta.

The Carnival is made up of Under 14 and Under 16 divisions, with participating leagues from Albury to Seymour putting their best junior footballers on show.

Mansfield joined forces with Benalla to put a team into each division, and Mansfield’s Ken Murray was fortunate enough to be coaching the Under 14 representative side.

Mansfield was well represented, with nine players making the final squad of 23, those being Joel Sandford, Luke Murray, Sam Thomson, Harry Mahoney, Zac Tanner, Blake Azzorpardi, Sam Morrow, Nick Watson and Pat Smith.

The Mansfield lads acquitted themselves very well in what was a high standard of football.

In the first round they played a Wangaratta representative side, and despite being behind at half time, ran over the top of them with some hard running football.
