Mt Buller celebrates Opening Weekend with a bang

AS SUN SET: Mt Buller village square took on a quieter aspect as the sun went down and visitors waited expectantly for the start of the fireworks.

MT BULLER has officially welcomed the 2015 snow season, with thousands of visitors enjoying fun, free activities and live entertainment across the mountain, along with discounted lift passes for the avid skiers and snowboarders.

Visitors to the resort enjoyed their first turns on Bourke Street with the opening of Blue Bullet Express and Bourke Street Carpet on Friday ahead of schedule, and ABOM Express and Wombat opening on Saturday.

Over in the Village Square, festivities kicked off on Saturday afternoon with free face painting, complimentary glühwein, hot chocolate, the annual Barry Possum Show and a live performance by acclaimed Melbourne rock band, Calling All Cars.

Visitors also welcomed a unique memorable meet and greet with the team from Australian Sled Dog tours.

On Saturday afternoon the official opening of the only Asian influenced food court in any Australian ski resort, Popo Kitchen was celebrated with full Chinese traditions.

Celebrations continued well into the evening with a sparkling fireworks display and various opening weekend parties.
