MANSFIELD Secondary College (MSC) school captain Tim Hume is off to the Olympics in Rio.

Well, not those Olympics but the 2015 International Science Olympiad.

And he will not be in Rio but in Pocos de Caldas, Minas Gerais, a city of some 150,000 people, 470km from Rio.

Tim was selected as one of Australia’s 17 best science students who have a chance to bring home gold.

He will be in the Earth Science team with Sacha Mann (Girton Grammar School, VIC), Jade Pham (James Ruse Agricultural High School, NSW) and Zoe Thompson (SCEGGS Redlands, NSW).

“I am so excited, this will be such a great opportunity,” he said.
