TWO quarterly online surveys since its launch of the Mansfield Business Monitor is showing interesting results.

In what is believed to be a first in online monitoring of business performance across the tourism sector, the results are showing increased employment, income and healthy levels of capital investment.

“Council is happy to see the first set of collective results from the online survey that is sent to the tourism accommodation sector quarterly, the tourism sector more broadly twice yearly and to all local businesses on an annual basis,” Mansfield Shire mayor Marg Attley said.

“Council was keen to have a tool to assess business performance and confidence, while also being able to identify trends to inform our strategic planning.

“Businesses that participate can see their own confidential data live on line in comparison to other like businesses, but we (council officers) only see the aggregated data.”

While the results from the first two surveys are interesting, they should be treated with caution as they are from a low participation rate, particularly in the accommodation sector.
