Urens living the life off the farm

FOND MEMORIES: Lyn and Don Uren moved into Mansfield after many years on a smaller property raising poll Herefords. They have good feelings about their life there and miss their animals greatly.

WHEN the day finally comes and you have to leave the farm you have loved, what do you do?

Maybe the drought has been too long, maybe you’re worn down by the stock prices, or perhaps you are just finding the constant work too much.

Those that love Mansfield generally seem to move into town to keep up with the friends they have made.

But in any case their lives will change yet again as they adapt to big city ways and learn more of what the rest of us have to put up with.

Don and Lyn Uren had a small holding at Booroolite that they kept for about 20 years before buying a house in Mansfield – adjacent to the golf course, naturally.

Working as a stock agent and later as a jackaroo, Don had always wanted to do farming for as long as he could remember.
