MSC leadership team heads to parliament in Canberra

INDI LEADERS: In Canberra last week were (from left, back) Tim Hall (MSC principal), Liam Edwards (MSC vice-captain), Tim Hume (MSC captain); (front) Ruby Lieber (MSC captain), Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi) and Jessie Azzopardi (MSC vice-captain).

AS an encore from the article on Tim Hume’s announcement of participation in the Australian Science and Mathematics Olympiad team (Mansfield Courier, June 17), during his visit to Canberra with other representatives of Mansfield Secondary College, Cathy McGowan (MHR, Indi) welcomed the leadership team and also acknowledged them in an address to parliament.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome to parliament today principal Timothy Hall and the leadership team from Mansfield Secondary College,” Ms McGowan said to the house.

“I would like to acknowledge the fantastic role of schools and education in Indi.

“Mansfield Secondary College is an outstanding example of academic and cultural scholarships, agriculture through its school based apprenticeships and its Mt Buller annexe.

“Today, I would particularly like to acknowledge four of the leadership team: Liam Edwards, who has a desire to study a Bachelor of Science and he values the opportunity to look at a range of careers, and Ruby Lieber, who has set her heart on going to Melbourne University to also complete a Bachelor of Science majoring in mathematics.

“There is Jessie Azzopardi, whose goal is to become a police officer — a dream she has had since grade 5.
