IT may seem like a dream, but for a group of young Mansfield students their dream of ridding Mansfield of plastic shopping bags is a reality they would like to see come true.

Youth Leading the World is an organisation that encourages our future leaders to improve the world by firstly understanding the environmental issues from around the globe.

During a three day workshop recently, Tom Bolitho, Jaidyn Peck, Bella MacMunn, Cecelia Walker, Tillie Pridham, Lach Read, Caleb Annuscheit, Alice Tehan, Caitie Bell and Isabelle Edwards decided on an action to rid Mansfield of plastic bags.

Their vision is to have a more sustainable world, to have our town and the whole world not to use plastic bags, to have homes more energy efficient and to use responsible green power.

Aims and visions were coordinated in collaborative fashion lead by mentors Jay Smith (YLTW) and Kerstie Lee (Up2Us).

The group also desired to eat more locally produced foods and to travel by energy efficient means such as bicycles and vehicles that do not use fossil fuels.
