THE well-filled public gallery at the July meeting of the Mansfield Shire Council presaged a brisk discussion of some development proposal.
An application from Murphy Fresh to allow the construction of two additional greenhouses of similar scale to the present, additional parking for 100 vehicles, a packing shed of more than 3000m2, an additional dam and associated earthworks was to be considered.
The project also required the removal of 26 trees to facilitate these works.
The farming zoned site is located on the Mansfield-Whitfield Road, about 8km north of Mansfield.
The publicly advertised application attracted 15 objections, seeking its rejection.
Objectors cited concerns about loss of established trees, the source of fuel for boilers and their emissions, impacts on waterways, noise and increased truck movements as well as a decline in visual amenity.
