THE Farmhouse Child Care Centre held a special Pink Day on Monday to raise funds for Gemma Ferguson and her four year old daughter Katie’s ‘Fergie’s Friends’ Relay For Life team.

Katie is a beautiful young girl who has had a tough start to life.

At the age of two she was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour, a rare cancer that attacks the kidneys, and resulted in Katie having a kidney removed and undergoing 12 months of chemotherapy.

Happily, things are looking up for Katie and her family, as she has now been 12 months in remission, and runs around the playground with her friends at The Farmhouse.

The special Pink Day was arranged in Katie’s honour, with the children (along with parents and staff) dressing in pink, enjoying pink food including yoghurt and biscuits, and raffling off a bright pink scooter.

All money raised will add to the Fergie’s Friends fundraising total for this year’s Mansfield Relay For Life event in October.
