Mansfield misses out on ambulance station again

MANSFIELD has missed out on gaining a new ambulance station – for the time being.

Announced last week by the State Government was the building of six new ambulance stations across the state – but Mansfield was not on its list.

Several weeks ago Cindy McLeish (MLA, Eildon) and Wendy Lovell (MLC, Northern Victoria) pushed the Victorian Government to build a new ambulance station and deliver a new mobile intensive care ambulance (MICA) single responder unit for Mansfield.

The former Liberal State Government made an election commitment to invest in new ambulance stations and MICA units across the electorate, including both a station and MICA unit for Mansfield, for which $3.8 million was promised.

The need for a new ambulance station to be built at Mansfield was strongly voiced again more recently in parliament.

Following Ms Lovell’s push the Mansfield Courier tried to get an answer from the Minister for Ambulance Services Jill Hennessy on where Mansfield stood for a new station.
