College shooters begin their year

SEASON START: The MSC shooting team at Echuca (back, from left) Sally Kirley, Luke Murray, Bec Smith, Jake Murray, Joey Garlick and Denny Walker; (front) James Trellu-Coker and Pat Kirley.

THE first clay target shoot for the year for student shooters from Mansfield Secondary College (MSC) was in Echuca last week at the annual Zone Trap Shooting Championships with eight students competing.

Round one scores were a bit rusty but by round two Denny Walker and Pat Kirley had their eye in, both shooting nine out of 10 targets.

This helped Kirley finish with a total of 15 out of 20 targets for the event, the highest of the Mansfield team, and he just missed out on a shoot off for a place with three other junior boys, who all shot 16 out of 20.

Sally Kirley also performed well and tied for third place in the senior girls, just going down in the shoot off.

As most of our students had not shot for a while, the Mansfield Clay Target Club hosted us the day before the event for some practice and tuition.

Year after year the club supports our young shooters and we are very grateful for this.
