AS usual, Mansfield District Hospital (MDH) is ahead of the rest when it comes to patient care.

The State Government last week introduced landmark legislation to guarantee minimum numbers of nurses and midwives to care for Victorian patients.

The Safe Patient Care (nurse to patient and midwife to patient ratios) Bill 2015 will ensure quality care and better outcomes for patients.

As director of clinical services at MDH, Margaretanne Hood said, “these ratios are our current practice”.

“The bill will enshrine in law what is safe practice,” she said.

“We here at MDH have always prided ourselves on safe patient care.”
