Three local producers win fine food awards

TAKE HOME: Danni Schneider and Jason Matthews have picked a whole truckload of garlic - enough for a large stew.

THREE Mansfield food producers were awarded top medals at the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards recently.

Long Lane Capers received Gold for its salted caper buds and silver for its caperberries; Stephens Fine Foods were awarded Bronze for its Traditional Rich Christmas Pudding; and Rushnot Garlic captured Bronze for its garlic.

The result helps to put Mansfield on the map for its contribution to fine foods.

“We were so thrilled to hear of our award win,” said Rowena Ellis of Long Lane Capers.

“We were so proud to be well represented by a strong Mansfield contingent and hope as our small producers in Mansfield develop so too will the recognition of the amazing produce we have in our shire.”

Long Lane Capers were also named in the top five Best Victorian Products with the overall Best Product being awarded to Cobram Estate Reserve for their Hojiblanca Oil.
