AFTER contesting the World Under 21 Speedway Championship final for the first time, Mansfield’s three time Australian Under 21 Champion, 19 year old Max Fricke, finished sixth.
The final was held on the weekend at Pardubice, in the Czech Republic.
Fricke performed strongly in the final round, with a number of wins throughout the heats that saw him finish with 11 points and in fifth place for the round.
Max did particularly well in the first round contested in July for fourth place, and in the second round in August he finished seventh in difficult conditions, which saw a number of riders drop vital points.
The strong finish in the final round by Max secured him sixth place in the championship with just one point separating fourth and sixth.
“The closeness of the scores throughout the final round made the meeting pretty stressful, but I’m happy with how I performed, and I don’t think I could have done any better,” Fricke said.
