Designs on a new roundabout

AROUND WE GO: Cr Ellen Hogan (right) and Mansfield Shire council’s newest civil engineer, Billy Wight, with the plans for the new roundabout at the corner of Malcolm and Highett Streets.

FOLLOWING the positive feedback received from the community, Mansfield Shire Council is embarking on repeating its successful implementation of a new roundabout, this time at the intersection of Malcolm and Highett Streets in Mansfield.

Council’s engineering department is well advanced in the design phase of the roundabout.

“This much anticipated project will address congestion problems that have long been an issue at this intersection,” said Mansfield Shire councillor Ellen Hogan.
“A roundabout at the intersection will make the area much safer and easier to navigate.

“It will eliminate the unusual layout that currently exists and reduce confusion.”

Council’s newly appointed civil engineer Billy Wight was the designer of the most recent roundabout constructed at the intersection of Chenery Street and High Street.

It was a project he managed extremely well.
