LOCAL competitor Nichola Payne has further strengthened her reputation as a rider to watch after three very successful competitions in as many months.
Nichola rode her chestnut gelding “Archie” at the recent Candlebark Horse Trials, where she came back from a two rail point loss in the show jumping to finish eighth overall.
Considering the duo only began competing in horse trials together in March, Archie has come a long way in a very short space of time.
“Archie placed fifth after a lovely calm dressage test, then popped down to 14th because of two rails,” Nichola said.
“But we had a massive comeback to finish eighth overall – I’m so proud of how far he has come in such a short space of time.”
The impressive result comes after Nichola also placed in the top 10 at the prestigious Boneo Park Spring Dressage competition earlier this month.
